With the recent news about Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have fielded several questions about the virus and swimming pools/hot tubs. Following is a statement from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control):According to the CDC, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

Storms Continue to Hit North Texas

All our thoughts and prayers here at Pool Referees go out to all the victims of the recent tornadoes and severe storms.

In the midst of all these, North Texas citizens find themselves cleaning out debris and other foliage out of their pools more often then they have to in the fall!

Never fear!  Pool Refs is here!  Sure, we can come out and get all of that out for you, but for you DIY-ers here’s how to best manage your pool debris yourselves.

The most effective step to take, is to make sure that your skimmers have good suction. and  empty the baskets often. Its better to get all of the debris out before it has  fallen to the bottom. Its a good habit to net your pool everyday or whenever possible.  Brushing often will help keep the dirt off the bottom and into the main drain.

And as I always say good filtration is the key ingredient to a clean pool.
